O So Nice
- For as long as I can remember, different automotive websites have offered potential buyers a chance to build up the perfect car or truck to fit their preferences. Everything from rims, tires, tint, and even mud flaps can be customized, leaving people like me drooling on the computer screen and praying $30,000 might fall from the sky.
Well, while that dream might still be a long ways off, I did discover a possible means to fulfilling another dream of mine this week.
JP Ross Fly Rods & CO. are admittedly a fresh company for me, but I sure am happy I found my way to their website. After some browsing I discovered something I have never seen before with other rod companies, a “Build your Own” section. Not expecting much of anything, I was pleasantly surprised when I discovered all the wonderful customizable options. Everything from the shape of the handle, to the guides, to feather inlays and colors, there really isn’t much you can’t do when customizing a JP Ross Fly Rod. When finished, I was left with a completely personal, one of a kind design for a more than reasonable price.
Not sure where to start? Review their rod recommendations to start with a blank that will best fit the species you target. So many great resources are available on the site, which only added to my strong urge to shell out my hard earned cash.
To learn more about JP Ross Fly Rods & CO., and to build your very own fly rod, visit their website HERE. If you build a rod, take a shot of it and send it to me HERE. If I get enough submissions, I’ll post the pictures to show the world exactly what kind of gear Up’North’s readers prefer.
See you at the car rod dealership!

Yeaaah dude, pretty good stuff. I love the feather inlay idea, so original. They really leave no stone unturned. Just thinking about a nimble 4 weight with two small ring reel mounts and recoil guides makes me want to run away to small trout streams for all of eternity. So steezy.
Thanks for the Tweet of that link BTW, never would have found them without that!
