Mornin' Coffee: Letters
- Good morning and happy Friday ladies and gents.
- While all the big shots in Fly Fishing gather in Colorado at Fly Fishing Retailer, my lonely corner of Maine has been much less eventful. Though I did get the invite to go out west (thought I’d brag a bit) college students don’t typically have a choice when it comes to traveling across the country. But have no fear! Some day soon I’ll find a company clueless enough to pay my way….boy wouldn’t that be swell.
On a more serious (and slightly less delusional) note, yesterday evening I received a letter that I enjoyed immensely, so in the spirit of sharing I have decided to pass it along to you, the readers.
The letter, which was actually a comment on the Up’North page “The Purpose” was sent to me by Bob of Southern Tier Fly Fisher. Bob expanded on what I refereed to as a strong passion for fly fishing, something I am sure many of us feel day in and day out. Check out Bob’s letter, and please, feel free to add your own input to the mix.
Hey Ben,
Great site (Thanks Bob) – and I agree with your comments under “purpose”. For me, I was born with this passion – no one in my family passed it on or even shared in my enthusiasm. It started early in my life and I learned on my own. You know you have the passion when:
1) Your wife won’t let you drive when there’s a river that parallels the highway you’re on because she’s noticed you’re eyes are on the river more than the road,
2) Your Christmas list always has a fly rod on it,
3) You know more about the fish at an aquarium or nature preserve than your tour guide, 4) you try to get your kids to go to a college based on its proximity to a trout stream or smallmouth river, and 5) your car is always loaded with your gear…
How do I fuel my passion – fishing, blogging, and more fishing.
Tight Lines…
Bob (southern tier fly fisher)
Thanks again for the letter Bob, as always, it is greatly appreciated.
To all my faithful followers, check out Bob’s blog Souther Tier Fly Fisher. The man has some serious writing skills and an obvious passion for Fly Fishing that extends far beyond simply casting a line on the weekend. Take Notice!
TGIF and Tight Lines,
-Ben
